The .300 AAC Blackout is based on the .221 Fireball case, modified for .308 caliber bullets. This configuration allows for the use of a broad range of projectile weights, typically spanning from 110 to 220 grains. The cartridge excels in versatility, providing excellent subsonic and supersonic performance. Supersonic loads generally utilize lighter bullets ranging from 110 to 125 grains and achieve velocities around 2,000 to 2,400 feet per second, making them suitable for tactical applications and short to medium-range shooting. Subsonic loads, typically equipped with 190 to 220-grain bullets, achieve around 1,000 feet per second, especially effective when paired with a suppressor.

Brass can be formed from readily available .223 Remington cases, although there might be minor feed adjustments required.
