7.5 FK Load Data & Reloading Guide
About 7.5 FK
The 7.5 FK caliber is a relatively recent entrant in the ammunition market, developed by FK Brno Engineering in the Czech Republic around 2015. It was specifically designed to bridge the performance gap between traditional handgun calibers and high-powered rifle cartridges. This cartridge was initially engineered for use in the innovative FK Brno Field Pistol, which enhances both the reach and impact power typically expected from a handgun.
Technically, the 7.5 FK is a bottlenecked cartridge with a case length approximately similar to a .30 Carbine but featuring a longer overall length. It is engineered for high velocity and controlled recoil, offering exceptional ballistic performance. The cartridge can push a 95-grain bullet to velocities exceeding 2,000 feet per second, offering a flat trajectory and significant energy retention at distance. Typical bullet weights range from 95 to 110 grains, making it versatile for different shooting applications.
The 7.5 FK is well-suited for both long-range target shooting and small to medium game hunting due to its flat trajectory and high terminal ballistics. It is gaining a reputation in competitive shooting circuits where power and precision are critical. The caliber's design allows it to maintain accuracy and reduce wind drift, features which can prove beneficial in controlled shooting environments.
For reloaders, the 7.5 FK offers unique advantages. The availability of quality brass and the option to experiment with different bullet weights and powder charges allow for custom load development tailored to specific shooting needs. Precision reloaders can benefit from the cartridge's potential to deliver high energy while managing recoil, providing a custom, high-performance option for both competition and personal defense scenarios.
